65%  D - *MICHAEL RODRIGUES, Westport

35%  R - DEREK MAKSY, Lakeville

Second Bristol and Plymouth - New Bedford, Dartmouth, Mattapoisett

D - *MARK MONTIGNY, New Bedford [Buff]

Cape and Islands - Cape Cod, Nantucket

63%  D - *DANIEL WOLF, Harwich [PP, NARAL, MEQ, SD, M/A]

37%  R - RONALD BEATY, JR., Barnstable [MCFL]

Beatty is a MARA guy and great on the issues.

First Essex - Haverhill, Newburyport, Methuen

54%  D - *KATHLEEN O'CONNOR- IVES, Newburyport [PP, NARAL, Buff]

46%  R - SHAUN P. TOOHEY, Haverhill

Second Essex - Beverly, Danvers, Peabody, Salem

D - *JOAN LOVELY, Salem [PP, Buff]

Third Essex - Lynn, Marblehead, Saugus, Swampscott

D - *THOMAS McGEE, Lynn [PP, SD, Buff]

First Essex and Middlesex - Gloucester, Ipswich, Hamilton

R - *BRUCE TARR, Gloucester

Tarr is rated "mixed" by both NARAL and MCFL.

Second Essex and Middlesex - Lawrence, Andover, Tewksbury

Open seat: Incumbent Barry Finegold ran or State Treasurer but lost in the Democratic primary.

53%  D - BARBARA L'ITALIEN, Andover [PP, NARAL, MEQ, M/A]

47%  R - ALEX VISPOLI, Andover [MCFL]

Vispoli seems to be good on the issues and was endorsed by the Herald. L'Italien was a hideous State Rep, before she got beaten (twice) by Jim Lyons. She'd be even worse in the Senate.

Hampden - Springfield, W. Springfield

D - *JAMES WELCH, West Springfield [PP, SD, Buff]

First Hampden and Hampshire - E. Longmeadow, Wilbraham, Springfield

Open seat: Incumbent Gale Candaras is running for Hampden County Register of Probate.

50%  D - ERIC PHILIP LESSER, Longmeadow [NARAL, MEQ, M/A]

46%  R - DEBRA BORONSKI, East Longmeadow

  9%  I - MIKE FRANCO, Holyoke

Mike is outstanding on all the issues. It would be great to seem in there.

Second Hampden and Hampshire - Holyoke, Westfield, Chicopee, Agawam

57%  R - *DONALD HUMASON, JR. Westfield [MCFL]

43%  D - PATRICK LEAHY, Holyoke [NARAL, M/A]

Hampshire, Franklin and Worcester - Northampton, Amherst, South Hadley

D - *STANLEY ROSENBERG, Amherst [PP, NARAL, SD, Buff]

Rosenberg is penly "gay," unabashedly left-wing, and in line to become the Senate President. It's not going to be fun.

First Middlesex - Lowell, Tyngsborough, Groton, Westford

D - *EILEEN DONOGHUE, Lowell [PP]

Second Middlesex - Medford, Somerville, Winchester

76%  D - *PATRICIA JEHLEN, Somerville [PP, NARAL, MEQ, SD, M/A, Trans2, Buff]

24%  R - ROBERT CAPPUCCI, JR., Medford [MCFL]

Cappucci is very, very impressive. We'd love to see him win this. Jehlen is terrible.

Third Middlesex - Waltham, Chelmsford, Concord, Lincoln, Weston

59%  D - *MICHAEL BARRETT, Lexington [PP, NARAL, SD, Trans2, Buff]

41%  R - SANDI MARTINEZ, Chelmsford [MCFL]

The choice here is very easy. Sandi is very good and Barrett is an arrogant, obnoxious liberal. This is a tough district for a conservative, though. We're hoping for the best.

Fourth Middlesex - Arlington, Burlington, Billerica

D - *KENNETH DONNELLY, Arlington [PP, NARAL, SD, Buff]

Fifth Middlesex - Malden, Wakefield, Stoneham

57%  D - *JASON LEWIS, Winchester [PP, NARAL, MEQ, SD, M/A, Buff, Trans2]

43%  R - MONICA MEDEIROS, Melrose [MCFL]

Jason Lewis seems to hate conservatives with a passion we don't often see, even in this state. Monica came pretty close to beating him the last time, in the special election earlier this year. If anybody could pull it off this time, she could do it!

First Middlesex and Norfolk - Newton, Brookline, Wellesley

D - *CYNTHIA STONE CREEM, Newton [PP, NARAL, SD, Buff]

Second Middlesex and Norfolk - Framingham, Ashland, Hopkinton

D - *KAREN SPILKA, Ashland [PP, NARAL, SD, Buff]

Middlesex and Suffolk - Cambridge, Boston, Everett, Chelsea

D - *SAL DiDOMENICO, Everett [PP, NARAL, SD, Buff]

Middlesex and Worcester - Acton, Littleton, Maynard, Marlborough

D - *JAMIE ELDRIDGE, Acton [PP, NARAL, SD, Trans2, Buff]

Norfolk, Bristol and Middlesex - Wayland, Sherborn, Attleboro, Wrentham

61%  R - *RICHARD ROSS, Wrentham [MCFL]

39%  D - DYLAN HAYRE, Natick, DEMOCRATIC [M/A]

Some years back Ross went to the dark side, voting not to let the people vote on traditional marriage and then marching in the Gay Pride Parade. But he appears to be pro-life so we're giving him a little slack. This is Scott Brown's old State Senate seat, and before that Cheryl Jacques. Maybe there's something in the water down there.

Norfolk, Bristol and Plymouth - Milton, Canton, Randolph, Easton

D - *BRIAN JOYCE, Milton, [PP, Buff]

Is he still in the Legislature?

Norfolk and Plymouth - Quincy, Braintree, Holbrook

66%  D - *JOHN KEENAN, Quincy [SD]

34%  R - LESLIE GOSULE, Quincy

Keenan co-sponsored the new buffer zone bill.

Norfolk and Suffolk - Boston, Dedham, Norwood, Westwood

D - *MICHAEL F. RUSH, Boston [MCFL]

Plymouth and Barnstable - Plymouth, Sandwich, Pembroke

Open seat: Incumbent Therese Murray is not running for re-election. Her term limit as President of the Senate expires at the end of this year.

61%  R - VINNY deMACEDO, Plymouth [MCFL]

35%  D - MATTHEW PATRICK, Falmouth [PP, SD, NARAL]

  4%  L - HEATHER MULLINS, Bourne

First Plymouth and Bristol - Bridgewater, Taunton, Middleborough

61%  D - *MARC PACHECO, Taunton [PP, NARAL, Buff]

39%  R - DAVID ROSA, Dighton

Rosa seems very good. VoteCoreValues likes him.

Second Plymouth and Bristol - Brockton, Hanover, Hanson

66%  D - *THOMAS KENNEDY, Brockton [MCFL]

34%  R - VIOLA RYERSON, Hanover

Plymouth and Norfolk - Weymouth, Norwell, Duxbury, Marshfield

R - *ROBERT HEDLUND, JR., Weymouth [MCFL]

First Suffolk - Boston

84%  D - *LINDA DORCENA FORRY, 110 Richmond St., Boston [PP, NARAL, Buff]

16%  I - ROBERT POWERS, JR., Boston

Forry is so "pro-gay" she refused to march in the South Boston St. Partick's Day Parade, even though it's in her district.

Second Suffolk - Boston

90%  D - *SONIA CHANG-DÍAZ, Boston [PP, MEQ, NARAL, Trans2]

10%  R - DAVID JAMES WYATT, Boston [MCFL]

Chang-Diaz is a smarmy pro-abortion anti-family liberal.

First Suffolk and Middlesex - East Boston, Revere, Cambridge

D - *ANTHONY PETRUCCELLI, Boston [PP, Buff]

Second Suffolk and Middlesex - Boston, Belmont, Watertown

D - *WILLIAM BROWNSBERGER, Belmont [PP, NARAL, SD, Trans1, Trans2]

First Worcester - Worcester, Boylston, Holden

60%  D - *HARRIETTE CHANDLER, Worcester, [PP, MEQ, NARAL, SD, Buff]

40%  R - PAUL FRANCO, Worcester

Chandler is just hideous. She was the primary sponsor of the new "buffer zone" bill and made an obnoxious, offensive speech supporting it at the public hearing. Paul Franco marched in the Worcester Gay Pride parade. Good grief!

Second Worcester - Worcester, Millbury, Shrewsbury

D - *MICHAEL MOORE, Millbury [PP, Buff]

Worcester, Hampden, Hampshire & Middlesex - Athol, Barre, Sturbridge

Open seat: Incumbent Stephen Brewer is retiring.

50.4%  D - ANNE GOBI, Spencer [NARAL, PP]

49.6%  R - MICHAEL VALANZOLA, Wales [MCFL]

Valanzola is not with us on the issues, we're told.

Worcester, Hampden, Hampshire & Middlesex - Athol, Barre, Sturbridge

60%  D - *JENNIFER FLANAGAN, Leominster [PP, NARAL, Buff]

40%  R - RICHARD BASTIEN, 370 Fitchburg [MCFL]

Worcester and Norfolk - Milford, Uxbridge, Webster, Southbridge

56%  R - RYAN FATTMAN, Webster

44%  D - *RICHARD MOORE, Uxbridge [MFCL]

Fattman is good on the issues (we can't believe that MCFL hasn't endorsed him -- they did endorse him two years ago). He sometimes has a tendancy to listen to the establishment too much and angers conservatives. And some say he should have kept his safe House seat as soon as Moore decided to run again. But Fattman is a very hard worker and could win this. Former Gov. Bill Weld (who voted for Obama) endorsed Richard Moore, so that's a good reason to support Fattman.
