Massachusetts House of Representatives -- don't let them override the governor's vetoes!
Here's (1) the talking points, and (2) the list of legislators to call -- to STOP the million-dollar-plus increase in homosexual funding in the public schools.
Talking points:
Call - Visit - Fax - Email! Tell your legislators:
Do NOT override the vetoes of:
* Item # 4590-0250 (Dept. of Education)
* Item # 7010-0005 (Dept. of Education)
* Item # 4513-1130 (Dept. of Public Health)
* Section 4. - Permanent Commission for Gay and Lesbian Youth
Here's what these would do if passed:
Items 4590-0250, 7010-0005, 4513-1130:
These would provide for HUGE increased funding for homosexual programs in the public schools - up to nearly $2 million! They already have $250,000 -- which is more than any other state in America. They don't need more money. All we've seen from it are hideous programs which lead vulnerable children into a lifestyle that's medically and psychologically destructive. They use this money for teaching homosexuality, cross-dressing, transsexuality, and normalizing homosexuality even to elementary school children -- and for fighting parents who want notification. The 4513-1130 item was intended to be a "domestic violence" budget item, but various unrelated things were also tossed in, such as enormous open-ended funding for homosexual programs in the schools. The governor vetoed those unrelated items in this item.
Section 4. - Permanent Commission for Gay and Lesbian Youth
This changes the General Laws to create a new, additional "Commission" of homosexual activists, with an official status to oversee and direct homosexual programs in the public schools, including powers to raise and spend money.
- - This should not be a budget item at all. It should be a separate bill. It's a sleazy move - this was slipped into the budget, so it could avoid having a public hearing, a committee debate, or other normal procedure!
- - There already is a "Governor's Commission of Gay and Lesbian Youth." Why do we need a second "Commission for Gay and Lesbian Youth?"
- - The language states that this Commission would be an "independent agency" and not subject to the control of any other department! That is probably unconstitutional, if not simply bad policy.
Nothing can be taken for granted. The vote to override the Governor's vetoes could happen any day.
Below is the list of state reps to be called. (Even if you're out of state this will affect you eventually.)
Group 1: 57 members are fairly solidly pro-family and ideally "should" vote with us.
Group 2: 28 members are "maybe" and could be persuaded.
Group 3: 73 members are endorsed by homosexual groups and/or pro-gay.
Right now - none of them (except for those committed to vote with us) can be taken for granted.
Call as many as you can. Concentrate on Groups 1 and 2 !
1. Call your own rep - Good if you can get a personal conversation (or better, a meeting)
2. Call as many others as you can. Concentrate on Groups 1 and 2 -- though we also believe that several of the Group 3 who would vote our way on this if given enough reason to.
Discuss the talking points (above) with them.
Did they get the packet that MassResistance delivered to them?
Get them to commit to sustain these vetoes. Will they side with parents -- or with the homosexual lobby? Would they want these horrible things which are given to kids in schools passed out in THEIR districts?
Make sure they know how important this is, and that you need an answer.
If you can, please email us back (or call) and let us know what they tell you.
In the list below: For more information, including their email address, click on each rep's "Web Page". Sending a fax is good if you can -- it's more likely to get read than email!
GOOD LUCK! WE MUST WIN THIS FIGHT!! We'll update this list as we get more info!

GROUP 1 - LIKELY: These 57 reps below, labeled "Group 1 " are fairly solid pro-family and ideally "should" be with us. But don't take anything for granted. We need to know for sure -- and THEY need to know that this isn't something they can duck out of.
NOTE: An asterisk means they've committed to voting with us. However, we just started asking a few days ago, and haven't gotten to most of them. Ask them yourself, then get back to us!

GROUP 2 - MAYBE: These 28 reps are labeled "Group 2 " because they are not in the "pro-gay" camp but may need some persuasion to go against their lobby. Many of them are probably with us on this issue, but we need to find out for sure.
After some re-evaluation, we recently added Reps: Jennifer Callahan, Kevin Murphy, Lida Harkins, Peter Koutoujian, Thomas Petrolati, Robert Rice, and Stephen Tobin.

GROUP 3 - PROBABLY NOT: These 73 reps are either endorsed by the homosexual lobby, have a reputation for being anti-family, or are outright homosexual activists. Not really worth bothering with at this point. But you never know. with some serious phone calls from people in their districts, a few might turn around.
