Two radical Planned Parenthood bills filed in Mass. Legislature
To require condom training, abortion counseling, sexual orientation issues - and more - for schoolchildren!
POSTED: Feb 9, 2011
Planned Parenthood's allies in the Massachusetts Legislature have filed two radical bills this session to cement the Planned Parenthood sexual agenda for kids into state law.
It's clear that Planned Parenthood and related sexual and homosexual special interests are serious about forcing their "education" into the public schools. These bills include mandating condom training for kids, abortion counseling, sexual orientation issues, mental health issues, and much more.
(These bills are currently identified by docket number. They will be assigned formal bill numbers sometime next week, according to the House Clerk's office.)
1. "An act relative to providing health education in schools"
Docket number: HD00999 - 44 co-sponsors
See text of bill HERE.
This is a re-filing of the same infamous Planned Parenthood bill filed over the last few sessions. It makes the Massachusetts Health Curriculum Frameworks -- an extremely radical document written by sex-ed and homosexual activists in 1999 -- the mandated legal guide for all health curriculum, textbooks, and instructional materials. The Health Curriculum framework includes extremely offensive and controversial mandates on homosexuality, abortion, intrusive psychological issues, sex education, and other topics. Moreover, it has required "objectives" for the various grade levels in elementary school through high school.
Here's our analysis of this bill, which we wrote when it was previously introduced in 2007. Like that previous bill, this one also includes language from the current Parental Notification Law which has proven to be ineffective and no longer gives parents the necessary protections. (We have filed a bill this session to re-write that law.)
Here's our report on the hard-hitting pro-family testimony at the public hearing in 2009 when they last filed this Planned Parenthood bill. Over the last few legislative sessions MassResistance marshaled citizens to confront every Planned Parenthood bill -- by testifying in committee hearings, sending letters and emails, personal visits, etc. As a result, ALL of those bills were stopped in committee, despite huge efforts and expense by the sex-ed lobby to get them passed.
It was filed this year by the indefatigable uber-radical Rep. Alice Wolf (D-Cambridge), who also filed the previous bills. It has 44 co-sponsors, which is a who's who of the far left in the Massachusetts House.
2. "Comprehensive sex education and violence programs" bill
Docket number: HD03568 - 8 co-sponsors
See text of bill HERE.
This bill states right up front that it "would require condom use" be taught in public schools. It would also require teaching about AIDS, reproduction and sexual health, mental health, family life and other topics. These all open the door for dangerous and offensive indoctrination by activist school officials. For example, "family life" could include equating homosexual "families" to normal families. Reproduction and sexual health could include abortion or other sexual activities. "Mental health" could encourage self-diagnosis or other leading discussions to kids.
The bill uses disturbing feel-good phrases like "Instruction in health education shall be age-appropriate, medically accurate and evidence-based, but not limited." This could be interpreted in a very broad way.
Interestingly, they also include tobacco, alcohol, violence prevention, and similar issues. These are problems which the schools have a very poor record of solving. We suspect these were included in order to give cover to the main intent of the bill - Planned Parenthood-style "comprehensive sex education."
Planned Parenthood obviously not giving up. Over the last several legislative sessions MassResistance marshaled citizens to confront every Planned Parenthood bill -- by testifying in committee hearings, sending letters and emails, personal visits, etc. As a result, all of them have been stopped in committee, despite huge efforts and expense by the sex-ed lobby to get them passed. But we can't stop now!
