Mass. Attorney General sues federal government to overturn Defense of Marriage Act

In 2004 we warned that this would happen. They apparently decided to wait until a friendly administration was in the White House. That time is now.
On Wednesday, Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley filed a suit in federal district court against the U.S. government to overturn the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), passed by Congress and signed by Bill Clinton in 1996. DOMA means the federal government refuses to recognize any same-sex "marriages" performed in Massachusetts or elsewhere, in the tax code, federal benefits, Social Security, or any federal agency.

Coakley's lawsuit is actually meant to force all the states to recognize "gay marriage" despite that they may have passed constitutional amendments. THAT'S what this is really all about.
Furthermore, don't expect the Obama administration and their radical-left US Attorney General to properly "defend" the government against this case. (In fact, this looks like it's being done in collusion with the Obama administration!)
Coakley, who is a public supporter of the homosexual movement and has helped raise money for their lobbying groups, claims that because same-sex "marriage" is legal in Massachusetts, Massachusetts residents are being denied constitutional rights.
Wednesday afternoon the Associated Press contacted MassResistance for our take on the situation. We explained to them a number of pertinent points, including the fact that same-sex "marriage" is not technically legal in Massachusetts - the law was never changed - and the court acknowledged it didn't have the power to change the law. [NOTE: Even the homosexual lobby acknowledges that. A bill to change the law to legalize same-sex marriage will be heard in public hearing next Tuesday, July 14!]
Furthermore, we said, Coakley ought to be doing her real job instead of this nonsense. She's doing this simply to please a perverse special interest.
Unfortunately, the AP chose to use other comments that we made. And predictably, we've noticed that when the article is reprinted in some left-leaning media, the part about MassResistance is deleted! Oh, well . . .
